The first case of ROTAPRO for heavily calcified vessels has been successfully done at National Hospital & Medical Center. A team of accomplished cardiologists, headed by Prof Dr Zubair Akram, and aided by Prof Dr Arsalan Masood, Dr. Tayyab Mohiyuddin Dr Asim Saif, Dr Noor Dastgir, Dr Ahmed Muqeet and Dr Subayyal executed this groundbreaking procedure, a first in the private sector hospitals of Punjab. ROTAPRO is a highly sophisticated inventory in which a diamond crystal-studded probe is used to cut heavily superficial and deep calcium in highly calcified vessels, cases which are usually turned down for any stenting procedures. With the provision of state-of-the-art ROTAPRO technology, National Hospital & Medical Center has gained unique advantage of offering stenting in interventionally turned down patients and where coronary artery bypass is the only option. Prof Dr Shahida Khawaja, CEO, National Hospital & Medical Center, and Chief Operating Officer Dr Jehanzeb Khan Aurakzai congratulated the NHMC cardiology team for this remarkable achievement.
